Angular Contact Bearings

Angular contact bearings are designed so that their races and balls contact at a specific angle relative to the operating axis of the bearing. Standard contact angles for machine tool bearings are 15 and 25 degrees. Some manufactures provide angular contact bearings with 18 degree contact angles for special applications. Angular contact bearings are available in standard inch and metric sizes.

angular contact bearingsAngular contact bearings are designed and manufactured with a preload. The preload is applied by removing the clearance between the inner race, the outer race and the bearing ball in an axial direction. With the proper contact angle, the angular contact bearing can operate in an application requiring high thrust loads or moderate radial loads. Angular contact bearings come in many configurations including duplex pairs, triplex and quadruplex sets.

Quantum Precision Group stocks and distributes a wide variety of angular contact bearings.
